Synopsys Slashing 10% of Staff Following $35B Acquisition of Ansys - Samfiru Tumarkin LLP

What’s Happening at Synopsys?

Synopsys is eliminating approximately 10% of its global workforce, or around 2,800 jobs, as part of a restructuring plan.

“This restructuring will allow Synopsys to invest in key growth opportunities and drive business efficiencies following the completion of its [$35-billion] acquisition of ANSYS, Inc.,” the company said in a recent regulatory filing.

“[We expect] a majority of the workforce reductions in fiscal year 2026 and to substantially complete the restructuring plan by the end of fiscal year 2027, subject to local law and consultation requirements.”

Synopsys expects to take pre-tax charges of $300 million to $350 million, including severance and site closure costs.
