Taika Waititi took to his social media account to address the hacky Photoshop job in his typically droll way. The director addressed the false claims that not only had he been arrested but also said something career-ending.
Waititi is the handsome, hilarious mind behind the last two Marvel Studios' Thor outings, Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, and half of the team behind FX sitcom What We Do In The Shadows (based on the movie he directed). He's also the Academy Award-winning writer of Jojo Rabbit and plays Blackbeard in HBO comedic pirate series Our Flag Means Death.
Waititi found himself photocopied into a lousy picture of himself getting arrested and accused of saying something on a hot mic. Waititi's response? “The real crime is this person’s Photoshop skills.” The controversy that’s a non-controversy began with a bizarre Photoshopped photo from an account that links to a blank page and shares a name with a Moroccan singer on Facebook by the name of Yann'Sine. It features Waititi’s head badly put on a photo of a guy in a gray jacket being arrested by a bunch of cops with the caption “THE CHARGES AGAINST TAIKA WAITITI” were confirmed.
