Tariff Fraud Whistleblower Gets Materiality Win Before Trial - Bloomberg Law

A whistleblower’s False Claims Act suit accusing the owner of New York footwear companies of engaging in a tariff fraud scheme is in a stronger position as the case heads toward trial following a ruling by a federal judge.

Whistleblower Devyn Taylor received partial summary judgment against Stefano Maroni to the extent she says that his alleged misconduct was material to US Customs and Border Protection payment decisions, Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said in a Thursday order.
