Alabama is one of the states that will provide relief to families by sending one-time tax refund checks due to a state budget surplus.
“It’s only right [...] that we give a fair share of this money directly back to the people of Alabama,” Governor Kay Ivey said, according to a statement shared by her office.
“Thanks to our unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility, one-time tax rebates will be with our hard-working Alabamians in time for the holidays,” added the state’s leader.

Tax refund up to $300 in Alabama: who qualifies
To be eligible for a refund, taxpayers in Alabama must have filed their 2021 Individual Income Tax return on or before October 17, 2022, and the state Department of Taxation must have received it within the same deadline. However, nonresidents, trustees, or anyone who was claimed as a dependent in the 2021 tax year are not eligible for a refund.
