A Stormont department is using taxpayers’ money to attempt to overturn a devastating judgment that raised serious concerns about Northern Ireland’s chief vet and one of his deputies.
The case has major implications for the treatment of Civil Service whistleblowers, the welfare of animals, the spread of disease, and the reputation of the cattle traceability system which, since the BSE crisis, has been central to how the agriculture industry has marketed local beef.
