Taylor Swift blasted for 'alarmingly false claim' that puts fans at risk - The Mirror

Pop megastar Taylor Swift has been criticised after sharing what dieticians have described as 'alarmingly false' claims about how Sourdough is healthy for gluten-free people

Taylor Swift has been slammed for her "false" comments as she opened up about her hobbies.

The singer has been on the press trail since Friday, promoting her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl. During her many interviews, the singer has been handing out home-baked sourdough bread - gifting the packets to presenters including Radio 1's Greg James and Radio 2's Scott Mills.

Her appearance on BBC Radio 2 that sparked alarm bells as she told host Scott that her friends who are gluten free are able to eat her Sourdough bread - which is not the case.

Speaking on the network, she said: "There's a lot of health benefits to Sourdough. Like, my friends who are gluten-free can eat this bread because of the enzymes and it anyway um, it breaks down the carbohydrates and the gluten."

The comment has been branded 'alarmingly false' by those with Coeliac Disease. Registered Gut Health Dietician, Kirsten Jackson, has hit out at Taylor and states that while she obviously meant no harm, those who are gluten-free or have Coeliac Disease could end up extremely unwell if they consume Sourdough.
