Under the government Fair Labor and Standards Act, businesses can apply for an endorsement to pay individuals with handicaps “whose acquiring or useful limit is debilitated by a physical or mental incapacity, including those connecting with age or injury, for the work to be performed” underneath the administrative the lowest pay permitted by law.
Tennessee’s regulation would boycott a business in the state from applying for such a declaration to pay individuals with inabilities underneath the lowest pay permitted by law.
“I’m simply so glad it’s come to the floor,” state delegate Darren Jernigan said a month ago. The regulation passed Tennessee’s statehouse with 89 votes in help and zero went against it.
The law will become real on the primary day of July.
