KUALA TERENGGANU: Three Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) operators in Terengganu have been suspended after being found guilty of violating operational guidelines, including submitting false subsidy claims.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry state director Mohd Mufsi Lat said the suspensions were enforced due to non-compliance that compromised consumer interests, particularly involving fraudulent subsidy claims.
He said other offences included failing to adhere to wholesale sales regulations and selling goods beyond permitted quantity limits.
"The ministry emphasises that every PJRM operator must ensure continuous compliance with all rules and guidelines, particularly regarding product quality, stock management, retail pricing, purchase limits, transaction records, and subsidy claims.
"The one-month suspension was imposed to allow operators to make corrections and improve compliance with PJRM rules," he said to reporters yesterday.
Earlier, Mufsi conducted a walkabout at the state's first night-time PJRM held at the compound of the Seberang Takir Mosque here yesterday.
He urged PJRM operators to prioritise integrity and anti-corruption measures, in line with the pledge signed when applying to join the programme.
Commenting on whether the suspension of the three operators would impact the programme, he said the programme continues to strengthen, with strategic partners increasing from 82 to 98 operators this year to help ease the public's cost of living.
