A Tesla whistleblower who has been fighting Elon Musk and his company in court for years has won the latest round of a long legal battle, BBC News reports.
Engineer Cristina Balan lost her job after raising safety concerns in 2014 about a design flaw that could affect the cars' braking.
Her defamation claim against the company appeared to be over when a judge upheld an arbitration award that dismissed the case – but a panel of appeals judges in California has overturned that decision in her favor.
She told BBC News that she now wants to face Elon Musk and Tesla in open court.

Tesla did not provide any comment after a request for comment. Balan said he believes the case will essentially return to square one and that new proceedings may be initiated.
"We hope to start a new lawsuit and have the opportunity to face Elon Musk in front of a jury and judge," she said.
The engineer was once so important at Tesla that her initials were engraved on the batteries inside Model S vehicles.
In an interview with BBC News last year, she said she is determined to prove her innocence for the sake of her son.
She also revealed that she was in the recovery stage of breast cancer, stage 3B, and her biggest worry was that she might not live to see the final day in court.
