Tetra Tech EC, Inc. (Tetra Tech), paid $57 million to resolve False Claims Act allegations that it fabricated work and falsified data the U.S. Department of the Navy relied on to determine whether the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard (HPNS) in the San Francisco Bay was free from harmful radiation.
Back in 2018, Contra Costa County performed testing at Keller Canyon Landfill in the City of Pittsburg.
In April 2018, former Supervisor Federal Glover has directed Contra Costa County Staff at next Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting to provide the Board with an update concerning the allegations of malfeasance by Tetra Tech EC Inc. at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The allegations concern possible radioactive materials being deposited at landfills across the state including possible contaminated material that might have been sent to the Keller Canyon Landfill.
In the same month, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier called for the Navy to conduct soil testing and any impacts.
Weeks later, the Board of Supervisors received their report when then former Director of Environmental Health Marilyn C. Underwood, Ph.D. said there was no evidence of radiological material was sent to Keller Canyon.
