Genotox Laboratories Ltd. has agreed to pay at least $5.9 million for allegedly violating the False Claims Act, according to the Department of Justice on Monday.
The company allegedly paid kickbacks to independent contractor sales representatives and marketing firms to arrange for or recommend the ordering of its testing, which violates the Anti-Kickback Statute, the DOJ said.
Genotox also allegedly submitted claims to Medicare, the Railroad Retirement Board, and TRICARE for tests that weren’t covered or medically necessary, according to the department.
