The whistleblower who exposed alleged abuse at a Bengaluru daycare has now been arrested for circulating the viral videos online.
The Bengaluru daycare horror case has taken another shocking turn this time, not because of the alleged abuse itself, but because the whistleblower who exposed it has now been arrested.
The woman, who allegedly recorded and circulated videos showing disturbing treatment of children inside an on-campus daycare at the Capgemini technology park in Bengaluru, was arrested for “leaking sensitive videos", according to police.
The horrifying clips had triggered nationwide outrage earlier this week. In the videos, children as young as two years old were allegedly seen sitting inside the drum of a front-loading washing machine while caregivers sprayed water on them. Another clip reportedly showed children being locked inside bathrooms.
The videos quickly went viral online, leading to police complaints and a separate complaint before the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Shortly after the videos surfaced, the daycare reportedly terminated the whistleblower’s employment.
Now, her arrest has sparked an even bigger backlash online.
