As reported by Variety, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Rose, the producers behind The Blind Side and co-founders of Alcon Entertainment, have recently released a statement regarding the authenticity of Michael Oher's story in the 2009 sports movie. The response comes in light of Oher's claims that the Tuohy family falsified his adoption in order to place him under a conservatorship, which he has since remained under. In a petition filed against the Tuohy family (via ESPN), Oher alleged that his adoption was a lie and that he did not receive earnings from the film.

The petition stated, "Since at least August of 2004, Conservators have allowed Michael, specifically, and the public, generally, to believe that Conservators adopted Michael and have used that untruth to gain financial advantages for themselves and the foundations which they own or which they exercise control. All monies made in said manner should in all conscience and equity be disgorged and paid over to the said ward, Michael Oher."
