On Monday, September 7, The Burn reported the news that Smokin Willy, a BBQ restaurant in Purcellville was planning on building and opening a new location in Leesburg.

We had a completely cordial and cooperative email exchange with Chris Scharrer, the owner of Smokin Willy and Deli South where he shared many details of his plans with us. These details were the basis of our reporting.
So, imagine our surprise when his wife, Shannon Scharrer, took to social media today – Wednesday, September 9 – to accuse The Burn of getting information wrong – we did not – and saying we told them we were reporting the news whether they gave permission or not – also false.
