The Needle: DOJ Whistleblower Has Receipts, And D.C. Lawyer Not Scared - Washington City Paper

Blow it: A Justice Department whistleblower provided Congress with emails and texts supporting his claims that Emil Bove talked about disobeying judicial orders. Bove, who has been nominated by convicted felon and President Donald Trump for a lifetime judicial appointment, played a role in sending Venezuelan immigrants to El Salvador despite a judge’s order to the contrary. The whistleblower, Erez Reuveni, was fired after he told a judge the administration mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Plus three points for whistleblowing. +3 [NYT, Politico]

Not backing down: D.C. lawyer Mark Zaid has made a career of representing people suing the White House and criticizing Trump. That has earned him a spot at the top of the president’s retribution list. He was included on the memo revoking security clearances for former President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, and others. But Zaid has not been deterred; he sued the administration over the revocation, which he says impacts his ability to represent some clients. He is awaiting a judge’s decision.
