  • Confirmation, biased: Democratic Senators Adam Schiff and Cory Booker are asking whether the Department of Justice’s inspector general is investigating, or plans to investigate, allegations against Emil Bove, a nominee for a lifetime appointment to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. A third whistleblower came forward in recent days to present evidence that Bove misled Senators about a DOJ prosecution during his confirmation hearing last month. Bove has been accused by other whistleblowers of telling subordinates to ignore court orders that could impede the Trump administration’s efforts to deport millions of immigrants. U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani temporarily blocked a provision in convicted felon and President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill that cut Medicaid funding to certain abortion providers, primarily impacting Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood, which also offers STI treatment, cancer screenings, and other health care services, sued shortly after Trump signed the bill into law, arguing that the provision would have “devastating consequences.” Yesterday’s ruling allows the clinic to resume billing for Medicaid services while the case plays out.
