The View’s Ana Navarro is facing some criticism after she said Bill Clinton wasn’t impeached for the Monica Lewinsky scandal and seemingly found a way to tie controversy to Trump supporters on the show’s December 5 episode.
The cohosts of the ABC show–Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin–discussed double standards faced by women embroiled in cheating scandals with powerful men as they talked about Olivia Nuzzi’s new book American Canto.
After previously having a blunder live on air about a different topic this week, Navarro appeared to flub as she talked about Nuzzi, who has faced backlash since it was revealed she had an affair with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The issue arose as the women talked about Nuzzi’s appearance on the BullWark podcast, where she broke down in tears.
Behar then pivoted the topic to Monica Lewinsky’s own scandal with Bill Clinton in the 1990s, after sharing that the former White House intern had reached out to Nuzzi over her own scandal.
“Alot of people think she got dragged through the mud over her affair with Bill Clinton, a lot of people say that, you know, that he got away easily and she didn’t,” Behar said.
Navarro then chimed in, sharing that she felt the scandal faced a particularly different scope because of when it happened.
“I think that if the Monica scandal, if the Clinton scandal with monica had occurred after the MeToo Movement, he probably would have been impeached,”...
