‘There Are Actual Schoolchildren Who Could Fact-Check Some of This’: CNN’s Daniel Dale R ... - Mediaite

CNN resident fact-checker Daniel Dale offered a blunt fact-check as President Donald Trump held a rally on Tuesday in Warren, Michigan.

Trump spoke for more than an hour and rehashed many of his well-worn grievances, including his false claims of election fraud in the 2020 election. CNN aired parts of the president’s speech, but during The Lead, Jake Tapper cut in to go to Dale for a brief fact check.

“And Daniel, we heard several claims from Trump tonight about the past three elections in Michigan, 2016, 2020, and 2024,” Tapper said, teeing up Trump’s remarks.

“We just had the biggest victory in Michigan,” Trump claimed. “We won it twice… We actually won it three times… But remember, I like the victories. I like the three victories, which we absolutely had.”

Tapper asked Dale for his reaction.

“I think there are actual schoolchildren who could fact-check some of this for us, Jake,” he replied. “President Trump did not win three victories. He won in 2016 and 2024. He lost in 2020. He did not win Michigan three times. He, again, won in 2016 and 2024, lost in 2020 to Joe Biden by more than 150,000 votes. If anyone is surprised that he’s still lying about not only the election more than four years ago, but the election he won as he did tonight, they haven’t been paying attention.”

Dale went on to call Trump’s claims “nonsense,” but added, “No amount of fact-checking appears to deter him on this subject.”
