'They offered me money to lie': German singer Lizlaz says Indian journalists bribed her to make false claims against Virat Kohli - OpIndia

The social media controversy involving Virat Kohli and German influencer-singer LizLaz has now taken another unexpected turn. LizLaz has claimed that some journalists approached her with offers of money to publicly speak against the RCB star and make false claims about him after the Instagram controversy went viral.

Speaking to Filmymantra Media, LizLaz said she refused to say anything negative about Kohli for fame or money. According to her, she was asked to make statements about things “he never did”, but she did not agree.

“I would never do that for publicity or money,” she said, adding that Kohli is actually one of her favourite cricketers.

The influencer also shared that she did not even realise the issue had exploded online at first. She said she came to know about it only after her phone started getting flooded with calls and messages from people discussing the matter.

How the Virat Kohli-LizLaz controversy started

The controversy began after Kohli’s Instagram account appeared to “like” an old post featuring LizLaz along with photographer Advait Vaidya. Since Virat Kohli does not follow the influencer, screenshots of the interaction quickly spread across social media, triggering memes, jokes and speculation online.
