KUALA LUMPUR: Three individuals have been remanded for four days to assist Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe into false claims of RM500,000 to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) under the Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana 2.0).
According to MACC sources, the three suspects, a man and two women, aged between 30 and 40 years old, were detained at the Perlis MACC office yesterday after giving their statements.
Sources said the male suspect is a construction company owner, the female suspect is an owner of a company that supplies various goods and another female suspect is a company manager who acted as the middleman.
"The owner of the construction company is believed to have submitted a false claim of over RM230,000 in 2021 while the goods supplier company submitted a false claim of over RM330,000 in 2021," the source said.
All the suspects were brought before Magistrate Siti Nor Hasliza Md Ali at the Kangar magistrate's Court where she granted a four-day remand on them starting today until May 19.
MACC's senior director of investigations, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim when contacted, confirmed the matter and said the case was being investigated under Section 471 of the Penal Code.
