False claims on social media about Tim Walz planning to enforce a monkeypox lockdown have surfaced. The Democratic vice presidential nominee has not made any announcement regarding any restrictions to curb the spread of the infectious viral disease that has plagued most of Africa and has been declared a global emergency. These rumors have emerged as Walz and Kamala Harris are at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Earlier this week, social media users posted a video of a long line of people outside Walz's rally in Nebraska - saying that hundreds were waiting to get tested for mpox.

“Huge lines to get tested for monkeypox in Omaha, Nebraska,” one user on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, claimed. They also attached a 10-second clip.
Some social media users say that Walz has, or will contract mpox. "The October Surprise will be Tim Walz getting Monkeypox," one person said.
"I can’t believe how many right-wingers I see making fun of the fact Tim Walz has monkeypox. That’s shameful. He could die," another person sarcastically tweeted.

"I am hearing rumors that Tim Walz got monkeypox from a horse," a third one said on the Elon Musk-led platform.
These claims are false. Walz has not tested positive for monkeypox.
