TM licensing scandal: driving test whistleblower willing to testify ... - Newsbook

The legal interpreter and translator who blew the whistle on the driving test racket at Transport Malta, and that is willing to testify in ongoing court proceedings, independent politician and MEP candidate Arnold Cassola said on Saturday.

Investigations into the racket were triggered by an email sent to the police in 2020 by a translator, who at the time was working with the authority to assist foreign candidates who did not know English or Maltese during theory tests.

Three individuals are denying wrongdoing in the case. Land transport director Clint Mansueto, former PL local councillor who remained on as an independent councillor Philip Edrick Zammit and Raul Antonio Pace have been charged in connection to the racket.

Whilst a translator is tasked to read out and translate the questions, the whistleblower claimed that Mansueto had contacted him on several occasions to instruct him to indicate the correct answers for certain students.

“This legal interpreter and translator, who today lives outside Malta, claims that he had spoken to various government representatives about what was going on in Transport Malta, but they did not take take any action,” Cassola said.
