TM whistleblower details scandals to police - Newsbook

The legal translator and interpreter, who acted as a whistleblower on Transport Malta’s driving tests scandal has given a detailed account to the Financial Crimes Investigation Department officers on Monday morning.

In a statement, independent politician and MEP candidate Arnold Cassola, said the whistleblower in the presence of his lawyer Jason Azzopardi, spent almost three hours detailing what went on at Transport Malta and at Identity Malta.

He also gave an account of his alleged meetings on these issues with high level government officials and politicians.

The whistleblower is expected to present documents to the police to assist them in their investigation.

Last week, the man filed a court application in which he is asking to testify against his three Transport Malta officials currently facing criminal proceedings in connection to the driving licence racket. He also made a number of serious accusations in his application.

These accusations even include a practice that appears to constitute electoral fraud, as well as the fraudulent issuing of Maltese IDs, he claimed that the names and ID numbers of dead Maltese citizens of foreign origin were being transferred to other foreign nationals, enabling them to “vote for the Labour Party.”
