PW Insider is reporting that Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions (AWE), the parent company of TNA Wrestling, filed a lawsuit against Hall of Famer Gail Kim in Nashville, Tennessee, on January 10.
Insider says the lawsuit is related to Anthem’s decision to fire Kim last year. In the aftermath, AWE says she legally threatened them over a Florida whistleblower act.
“The lawsuit stems from Kim informing the company that after she was let go in March 2025, ‘she believes she holds legal claims against AWE for violations of the Florida Private Whistleblower Act.’ What those alleged violations may be are not listed in the lawsuit.
However, Anthem brought the lawsuit forward as they are alleging that based on the nature of Kim’s contract with the company, that all issues between the two should be governed by [Tennessee] law.”
A key part of AWE’s legal argument follows from its claim that even though Kim worked in talent relations, her contract stated that she was an independent contractor “at all times,” rather than an employee of the company. As a result, Anthem wants all legal disputes with Kim to be settled by Tennessee law.
