Top Senators Offer Bill on IRS Whistleblower, Tax Court Changes - Bloomberg Law News

Two top senators are introducing bipartisan changes to the IRS’ whistleblower awards program in a companion bill to a House version that passed in April.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), a senior member and former chair of the Senate Finance Committee, and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), the current ranking member of Senate Finance, are putting forward measures to shore up the program, the pair said in a statement Friday.

The bill provides for new evidence to be admitted to the record in appeals heard by the US Tax Court, and exempts whistleblower awards from budget sequestration. The measure also creates a ...
