The whistleblower who reported the audit misconduct at KPMG has exposed the bullying, poor culture and working conditions that existed within the audit division of KPMG in a series of emails.
The whistleblower responsible for bringing the misconduct matters at KPMG to light, has shared some of the other concerning behaviours that occurred within the audit practice of KPMG in a series of emails published as part of the inquiry into the big four firm.
In an email sent to the former national managing partner of assurance, Julian McPherson, the former KPMG employee accused a number of the partners at KPMG, including audit partner Kim Lawry, of inappropriate and bullying type behaviour.
Despite raising concerns about the defamatory comments and poor conduct by Lawry, the whistleblower was actively discouraged from progressing them further.
"I have raised with you and a number of other partners the inappropriate and bullying behaviour of Kim Lawry, an audit partner and KPMG Board member. Indeed I have discussed with you personally the matter and we have discussed Kim's improper behaviour [and] conduct," the email stated.
"It is clear to me that KPMG has a duty of care to take these concerns seriously and investigate properly, but when I have raised these issues I have very clearly been warned against progressing them."
