A trucking company with offices in Moose Jaw and Regina is facing charges under Saskatchewan’s immigration employment legislation.
The provincial government says Jorawar Singh and JD Trucking Ltd. have each been charged with allegedly making or signing false statements, or providing false, misleading or inaccurate information contrary to The Immigration Services Act, 2024.
According to the province, the alleged offences occurred on or about April 9 in or near Regina.
It is alleged the actions violated Section 7-6(1) of the legislation, which governs the provision of information related to immigration services in Saskatchewan.
Singh and JD Trucking made their first appearance in Regina provincial court on Sept. 2.
The case was adjourned and is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 28.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
The charges were announced by Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Immigration and Career Training.
The ministry’s Program Compliance Branch is responsible for enforcing protections designed to safeguard immigrants and foreign workers in the province.
The branch investigates complaints and monitors compliance with Saskatchewan’s immigration and recruitment laws.
