Amid escalating tensions, the Donald Trump administration has reportedly firmly denied allegations from Iran’s National Security Council that U.S. soldiers have been captured by Iran.
Iran Says It Captured US Soldiers
Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s National Security Council, claimed on social media platform X that Iran had captured US soldiers, suggesting the US was falsely reporting these captures as combat deaths.
"It has been reported to me that several American soldiers have been taken prisoner. But the Americans claim that they have been killed in action. Despite their futile efforts, the truth is not something they can hide for too long," Larijani said in the post.
US Dismisses False Claims
In response, US Navy Captain Tim Hawkins dismissed these claims as false, accusing the Iranian regime of spreading lies, according to a report by Al Jazeera. A spokesperson from US Central Command (CENTCOM) also refuted the claims, labeling them as deceptive.
The conflict, which began on February 28 with a joint US-Israel attack, has resulted in the deaths of at least six US soldiers.
The operation, named “Operation Epic Fury,” has seen significant casualties, including a tragic strike on a school in Minab, Iran. President Donald Trump has blamed Iran for the school attack, while The New York Times analysis suggests US involvement.
