President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced the White House Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program through which the federal government will now reward tipsters who advise authorities about alleged cases of fraud, waste, and abuse.
“Independent journalists, and everybody, and all Americans, will now be able to go to the fraud.gov [website] and report cases of corruption and theft of taxpayer dollars in their communities,” Trump told reporters. “You let’s say report and you find a billion dollars, we are giving a commission to that person of 1%. It’s a lot of money, and if it’s $10 billion, $200 billion, $400 billion, we’re giving a 1% commission to that person.”

Trump, who contended the program could help reduce the federal deficit, added that he would be the arbitrator if there are disputes, including “[determining] whether or not the person is deserving.”
“I’ll determine, and I will be very generous,” he said. “I promise you, I’ll be fair, and I’m not doing it for any other reason other than to expedite, because I think it’s very important. But it’ll be a binding arbitration. You’ll get your money immediately, but I’ll make the determination.”
