WARREN, MI – It’s been 697 days since the 2020 election, but former President Donald Trump on Saturday continued his false claims of result-altering fraud while speaking at a rally in southeastern Michigan, one of the epicenters of his claims.
“It was a rigged and stolen election,” Trump told the crowd at Macomb County Community College.
When bringing up alleged misdoing in Detroit, where he and his allies continue to falsely claim absentee ballots were corrupted, Trump said, “Who would have thought our elections are so rigged and crooked?”
He also falsely claimed John James, the Republican running for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, won his race for U.S. Senator by “quite a bit” in 2020. James lost that race by more than 92,000 votes to Democratic U.S. Sen. Gary Peters.
The ex-President rallied support Saturday for Michigan statewide and congressional candidates, including Republican governor nominee Tudor Dixon, secretary of state nominee Kristina Karamo and attorney general nominee Matthew DePerno.
Dixon and Karamo have previously claimed the election was stolen, while DePerno rose to prominence by leading a legal fight in Antrim County after the 2020 election, suggesting that fraud casts doubt on its legitimacy.
More than 250 state and local audits, however, confirmed Michigan’s election results by checking the accuracy of machines’ tabulation of paper ballots and the procedures for ballot chain of custody and signature acclamation.
