DETROIT — News Channel 3 learned that former president Donald Trump claimed there had been a suspicious dump of illegitimate ballots in Detroit.
Trump held a meeting in the oval office on Nov. 20, 2020, with then State Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield and Mike Shirkey, the former Majority Leader of the Michigan senate, according to the indictment.
He raised the false claim of the Detroit vote dump, to which Shirkey replied by saying he lost Michigan not because of fraud, but because he underperformed with certain voters, the indictment said.
In early December, the indictment alleges he knowingly made a false statement, stating he was winning by a lot before nearly 150,000 votes came in unexpectedly, calling Detroit corrupt.
The indictment against Trump also identifies, but does not name six people as co-conspirators in the alleged plot to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Two of those are people accused of creating a plan to create a fake slate of electoral college voters in seven states, including Michigan.
Those people would then submit their votes, falsely certifying Trump as the winner on Jan. 6, 2021.
According to the indictment, one of the co-conspirators, who is an attorney, allegedly sent a message to Chatfield, attempting to get him to help reverse the ascertainment of the legitimate Biden...
