Trump struggles on Israel crisis with false claims the US financed it - inews

As the former president entered the courthouse where he is facing a civil lawsuit, he admitted that he ‘hadn’t thought of’ travelling to Israel but ‘might go’

WASHINGTON, DC – By Donald Trump’s own admission, Joe Biden outpaced him last week.

As the former president entered the New York City courthouse where his business empire is facing a civil lawsuit that could cripple it, he admitted that he “hadn’t thought of” travelling to Israel but “might go”.

The country’s current President was – at the time – already aboard Air Force One, en route to Tel Aviv.

It’s understandable that Trump’s attention is not entirely focused on the crisis in the Middle East. Facing 91 separate criminal charges in multiple jurisdictions, courthouse appearances in which reporters seek his reaction to developing world affairs could become a recurring image of America’s 2024 election campaign.

Last week, Trump’s legal jeopardy deepened substantially after his former lawyer, Sidney Powell, pleaded guilty to charges that she conspired to commit intentional interference in the 2020 election in the state of Georgia. As the result of a plea agreement, she will pay a $6,000 fine, write a letter of apology to the state’s voters, and – devastating to Trump – testify at future trials against him and his alleged co-conspirators.
