What’s Happening?
US President Donald Trump announced that his administration is planning to impose a 50% duty on copper imports and a 200% levy on imported pharmaceuticals.
“If they have to bring the pharmaceuticals into the country … they’re going to be tariffed at a very, very high rate,” Trump told reporters at the White House on July 8.
“We’ll give them a certain period of time to get their act together.”
The update comes as the US delays its deadline on reciprocal duties from July 9 to August 1.
