New London ― Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, an Iraq War combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient who testified before Congress as part of the first impeachment inquiry against former President Donald Trump, will speak at Connecticut College Sept. 15 about Russia’s war on Ukraine.
The talk is free and open to the public. It will take place at 7 p.m. at the Athey Center for Performance and Research at Palmer Auditorium.
Vindman, who was born in what was then the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and came to the U.S. as a 3-year-old, served in the U.S. embassies in Kyiv and Moscow before accepting an assignment in 2018 with the National Security Council, where he served as Director of European Affairs. Connecticut College said in a press release he will discuss the global impact of the war, especially on the U.S.

Vindman is a preeminent expert on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and its impact on the global economy and the world,” President Katherine Bergeron said. “We are pleased that the College is able to bring to our campus and to the greater New London community such a distinguished authority on these urgent issues.”
