Tulsi Gabbard denies burying alleged whistleblower complaint after Dems raise concerns - KATU

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard denied any wrongdoing after Democrats questioned why an alleged whistleblower complaint filed against her last May took almost a year to be presented to Congress.

Gabbard responded to the claims on the social media platform X after Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chair Mark Warner, D-Va., and other Democrats raised concerns.

Senator Mark Warner and his friends in the propaganda media have repeatedly lied to the American people that I or the ODNI ‘hid’ a whistleblower complaint in a safe for eight months. This is a blatant lie,” Gabbard wrote.

Warner claimed that Gabbard made an effort to bury the complaint.

“The law is clear: when a whistleblower makes a complaint and wants to get it before Congress, the agency has 21 days to relay it,” said Warner during a press conference. “This whistleblower complaint was issued in May. We didn’t receive it until February.”

The complaint was first reported by The Wall Street Journal. A U.S. official told the outlet the allegations could cause “grave damage to national security.”

According to an Associated Press report, the whistleblower accused Gabbard of withholding access to classified information for political reasons and failing to refer a potential crime to the Department of Justice.

House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Jim Himes, D-Conn, said the whistleblower still has the right to communicate with Congress, even if the claims were dismissed.
