Facing online backlash from some adult residents, around 50 students at Turpin High School braved the bitter cold temperatures Friday afternoon and staged a walkout to protest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements.
The demonstration in the Forest Hills School District is part of the nationwide ICE Out for Good movement supporting Minnesota's statewide economic blackout being hosted Jan. 23. The anti-ICE walkouts come amid a wave of protests hosted across the country in the wake of the Jan. 7 killing of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.
