Twitter goes viral with false claims that Amber Heard's testimony are lines from movies - New York Daily News

Twitter was abuzz Thursday with people falsely claiming Amber Heard isn’t sharing the truth at her defamation trial, but that she was quoting lines straight out of movies.

“Gone Girl” was trending Thursday, with more than 10,000 tweets.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, 58, is suing Heard for $50 million, claiming her 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she refers to herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse” cost him his reputation, as well as millions of dollars in would-be work. Though Heard had accused Depp of abuse during their tumultuous marriage years earlier, the piece did not identify him. Heard has counter-sued Depp for $100 million.

Some questionable tweets went viral on Thursday as the “Aquaman” actress was testifying at the trial in Fairfax, Va.

“So far, the internet has pinpointed lines from Amber Heard’s testimony from: Mildred Pierce, Gone Girl, Matilda, The Talented Mr. Ripley, MAID, Bates Motel, Notting Hill, Pretty Woman ...and that was just her first day,” tweeted one Depp supporter.
