Russia continues its disinformation campaign about prisoners of war, seeking to promote the idea that Ukrainian captives are allegedly held in better conditions in Russia than Russian prisoners are in Ukraine. The Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council drew attention to this on Telegram.

The Center stressed that the purpose of this campaign is to distort facts about the conditions in which prisoners are held and discredit Ukraine internationally.
The latest information attack was prompted by a statement from Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yulia Lantratova. Without providing evidence, she claimed that Ukraine allegedly has facilities where Russian prisoners of war are held and where Red Cross representatives are not allowed access.
In addition, Lantratova claimed that Russian servicemen are allegedly kept in “torture chambers” for a long time before their captivity is officially registered.
