UN warns Libya protests fueled by false claims - Breakingthenews.net

The United Nations stated on Friday it was deeply concerned after violent protests outside its offices in Tripoli, where hundreds of demonstrators blocked the UNHCR headquarters and demanded action against migrants and refugees.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that the organization "strongly condemns any attack or threats against personnel or premises" and warned that misinformation about UN work in Libya was spreading online.

The UN Support Mission in Libya said there is no UN resettlement program in the country and that UNHCR focuses on evacuations, third-country solutions, and voluntary returns when possible.
