‘Uncensored AI’ Chatbot Pushes Conspiracy Theories - NewsGuard's Reality Check

What’s happening: Alternative chatbot Uncensored AI, which markets itself as dedicated to “unfiltered information” over “mainstream narratives,” is being cited by popular conservative social media accounts to spread outlandish conspiracy theories, giving the false claims a veneer of credibility.

Among the claims advanced by the chatbot: that the 2020 election was rigged, that Israeli agents killed conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, and that President Donald Trump staged attempts on his life.

Context: Uncensored AI, which came on the market in February 2023, seeks to distinguish itself from other AI models by stressing its outsider status. “Unlike mainstream models that are often constrained by heavy-handed content filters and corporate bias, our platform focuses on providing raw, unfiltered, and objective information,” the company states. The chatbot also states that its bot enables users to “bypass the ‘sugar coating’ that often limits genuine interaction with digital tools.”

Uncensored AI was founded in Omaha, Nebraska, in February 2023 by entrepreneurs Jason Dick and Troy Weber. They are also partners in a company called HouseBots, which describes itself as a marketplace for buying and selling robots that help with house...
