Arthritis practice settles false claims case for $2.
NFL on CBS color commentator Tony Romo says that his infamous gaffe by calling Taylor Swift the 'wife' of Travis Kelce was not a slip of the tongue.
In December 2023, at the height of 'Tayvis' Mania, Romo addressed the pop icon as the spouse of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
It came long before the couple announced their engagement back in August of 2025.
During an interview on SiriusXM's 'The Morning Mash Up', the 45-year-old Romo revealed that it wasn't an accident when he uttered that word.
'I was like, "And there's," I think I said, "His wife." I did that on purpose and people [were] like, "Do you know something...?"' Romo recalled.
'I was like, "Nah, I just wanted to make you guys think for a second,"' Romo added, claiming it was an attempt to 'just mess with you a little bit.'
Romo's first 'W-Bomb', if you will, dropped during a game against the Buffalo Bills on December 10, 2023.
A week later, against the Las Vegas Raiders, he once again said, 'As you see, Kelce's wife, Taylor Swift, in the audience.' Romo then quickly corrected himself, saying, 'Er, I'm sorry. Girlfriend!'
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on August 26, 2025 with a post to Instagram captioned, 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.'
But Romo's bizarre comments caught plenty of attention. It's also not the first time he's made weird choices in the booth.
Throughout the playoffs, Romo has been criticized for his strange affectations and his errors in commentary.
