Requirement for postdoctoral researchers to be offered permanent employment is being softened, union says
The Berlin senate is planning to soften a planned requirement for postdoctoral researchers in the state to be offered permanent employment, according to the union ver.di, which has criticised the U-turn.
The previous senate had stipulated that postdocs must be offered a permanent employment contract after reaching a defined qualification. But the current administration announced the change to the plan, already pushed back from 2023 to 2025, at a forum titled Good Work at Berlin Universities, ver.di said.
