Unions test Labor laws to meet with new inductees - AFR

Unions are seeking to use the Albanese government’s new industrial relations laws to insert delegates into staff inductions to boost membership, in a test case that could apply to all workplaces.

The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union will fight US meat giant Cargill’s Teys Australia in the Federal Court on Tuesday after accusing its Beenleigh abattoir of issuing warnings and unlawfully standing down a delegate because he exercised his right to talk to workers on site.
