Unity Fiji rejects fake news about Presidency remarks - Fijivillage

Unity Fiji clarifies that there is absolutely no truth to a social media post circulating on facebook alleging that Party Leader, Savenaca Narube made a statement concerning the Office of the President of the Republic of Fiji or any purported offer of the position to the Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa.

Unity Fiji confirms that no such statement was ever made by Narube, nor has the party discussed or taken any position on matters relating to the appointment of the President of Fiji.

They say such publication and circulation of such false claims are irresponsible and misleading.

Unity Fiji says such statements are disrespectful both to the dignity of the Office of the President and to the Vanua of Burebasaga, including the esteemed position of the Roko Tui Dreketi.

They say Office of the President is one of the highest institutions of the country and deserves to be treated with the utmost respect and equally, the traditional leadership and cultural significance of the Vanua of Burebasaga and the Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi must not be drawn into unfounded political speculation or social media misinformation.

Unity Fiji calls on the people to exercise caution when consuming and sharing information on social media and to verify claims through credible and official sources before accepting them as a fact.
