Upstate woman accused of filing false insurance claims - Yahoo

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged 25-year-old Kelsey Michelle Moore with presenting a false claim for insurance—value more than $2,000 but less than
$10,000 and three counts of forgery—value Less than $10,000.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance requested the SLED investigation.

According to the arrest warrants, between April 16 and May 5, Moore submitted an alleged false claim for insurance payment to USAA Casualty Insurance Company regarding her water heater failing and causing damage to her clothing, shoes and personal items.

During the claims process, the suspect filed forged invoices from Uptown Dry Cleaning, which led to USAA issuing a payment of $4,916.58.

Further into the investigation, detectives learned that the dry cleaning business was not legitimate. Moore's property manager also confirmed with authorities that no water heater failure occurred.

Moore was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Department of Insurance.
