Yury Gampel, 15 Modern Vascular office-based labs owned by Gampel, and five Modern Vascular affiliated companies owned by him, have been named in a False Claims Act complaint filed by the US for alleged illegal financial transactions, the US Department of Justice said in a press statement on Tuesday.
Gampel, alongside the Modern Vascular defendants, allegedly offered physicians the opportunity to invest in office-based labs to encourage them to refer their Medicare and TRICARE patients, said the agency.
The defendants also allegedly pressured surgeons and radiologists to increase invasive surgical procedures, DOJ said.
