US oil tankers flying Pak flags: Iranian embassy rejects Trump’s claims - Business Recorder

ISLAMABAD: The Iranian Embassy in Islamabad has issued a clarification rejecting false information circulating on social media regarding a purported claims by US President Donald Trump that Iran had granted permission to US oil tankers flying Pakistani flags.

The Iranian Embassy said the propaganda being disseminated through fake accounts is aimed at damaging the cordial relations between Iran and Pakistan.

The clarification comes in response to recent “false claims” by US President Donald Trump in his cabinet meeting, where he reportedly claimed that Iran has given them a “gift” in the form of allowing 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump, these oil tankers were flying the flags of Pakistan as a sign of goodwill to prove Iran’s commitment to dialogue.

These false claims by Trump have been making headlines in various newspapers and on different social media platforms. Trump’s claims have, however, been dismissed by Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and other senior Iranian officials.

According to them, such false claims by Trump are part of “fake news” aimed at manipulating oil prices globally. They further claimed that President Trump’s “false claims” are an attempt to create a “smokescreen” for military aggression.
