United States Central Command (CENTCOM) rejected Iranian state media claims that Tehran controls shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz and that ships can only move through lanes approved by the country.
The command said that Iran does not dictate passage in the waterway and that traffic continues under international authority. CENTCOM also claimed that since early May, US forces have supported the safe movement of more than 800 commercial ships carrying about 380 million barrels of crude oil through the corridor.
"Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM wrote.
