Verizon Retailer, Workers Get Final Deal in Decade-Old Wage Suit - Bloomberg Law

An upstate New York Verizon Wireless retailer will pay its salespeople nearly $90,000, resolving a decade of wage-and-hour litigation, after a federal magistrate judge in the state gave the deal his final approval.

Salespeople sued Cellular Sales of New York LLC and Cellular Sales of Knoxville Inc. in 2012 for allegedly misclassifying them as independent contractors when they were really employees. The final settlement approval follows “thorough investigation and discovery” and a bench trial, the US District Court for the Northern District of New York said.
