Recently, a video showing cops parading and beating a group of young people went viral on social media. Sharing the video, users claimed that the video shows the Mumbai Police beating people who were forcefully stopping vehicles on the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, Mumbai to stick “I Love Muhammad” stickers.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is from Nashik. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a video uploaded on Facebook on 1 October 2025. According to the caption, the video is from Nashik. The people were celebrating when someone got released from jail.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a report published in The Free Press Journal on 3 October 2025, that contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video.
The report read, “Nashik police have booked 21 gang members for taking out a procession and celebrating the release of one of their members on bail from Nashik Road Central Jail, while he was arrested on murder charges.
A viral video has been surfacing on social media where police are seen parading a group of young men on the roads of Nashik. They police are seen beating a boy and the whole scene is witnessed by a lot of crowd on the road.
